PS: did you know he was, in his youth, called "The Terrible Swede" because of his athletic prowess. I think I remember this correctly that he was trying out for a major league baseball team when he cut his heal on a sharp metal object that stymied his career.

I read his 6 volume bio on Lincoln--twice--as he suggests three times--once as an adolescent, as an adult and as a senior. I was, like him born in Galesburg.
