Martin, congratulations on your 3rd place win in the contest - PHOTOS ONLY - VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE STILL LIFE, August 2022! You have earned bragging rights! I love the detailed description and that great George Eastman quote. As photographers, if we aren't telling the stories that go with our images, we are missing a key component of our work. Good job!

Thank you Toni.

Artist's Description

A fine example of the Kodak No. 3A Autographic folding camera circa 1917.
This camera had a ball bearing shutter and meniscus lens. Press a hidden button on the bottom plate and the bellows unfold, you then compose the photo thru a right-angle viewfinder above the lens, focus via a scale and trip the shutter with a lever or cable release.
The camera was designed to use a metal stylus to record information directly onto the margin of the negative via carbon transfer paper thru a flip-up window on the back. Photographed high res with Canon 5Ds at 50mp.

"What we do during our working hours determines what we have; what we do in our leisure hours determines what we are." George Eastman

About Martin Konopacki

Martin Konopacki

My passion for photography thrives in the creative process and the opportunity to share an observation. I am also dedicated to the preservation and restoration of historic film and glass negatives. The "vintage" images on my site are 50 to 100 years and older. All the "vintage" images displayed here are first generation, meticulously restored from the "original" camera negative. Now that almost all photography is digital, keeping an archive of original camera negatives is a way to preserve the physical connection to our past which exists in the photographic negative. I love traveling across the United States and this enables me to pursue my passion for creating fine art photography. Visit my web site at www.mkphoto.net
