This is a great photo! Good job! It would also be perfect for the “Moss, Algae, Lichen, Liverworts and Hornworts” group, for which I am the Administrator, as well as for the “Creatures And Oddities of The Enchanted Woods And Forbidden Forest” group. If you haven’t already done so, I would encourage you to join that Moss and Algae group, and submit this photo for consideration on their Home Page of “Featured Photos “. Here is the link to the group: https://fineartamerica.com/groups/moss-algae-lichen-liverworts-and-hornworts-.html

Thanks Michael, I'll check out the group.

Very creative creation. From the description, I gather it was a digital creation and not actually carved this way. Well done.

Martin Konopacki replied:

Thank you Sharon. Yes, two symmetrical halves are digitally placed together for the image. The eye (eyes) was carved out many years ago by loggers. The carved out space was used to place a spring board into and the loggers would stand on the board while falling this tree.

Artist's Description

This moss covered tree stump was found at Marymere Falls near Lake Crescent in the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. The eye (eyes) was carved out many years ago by loggers. The carved out space was used to place a spring board into and the loggers would stand on the board while falling this tree. This image was created by combining two symmetrical images, flopping one half to produce this anthropomorphic design.

About Martin Konopacki

Martin Konopacki

My passion for photography thrives in the creative process and the opportunity to share an observation. I am also dedicated to the preservation and restoration of historic film and glass negatives. The "vintage" images on my site are 50 to 100 years and older. All the "vintage" images displayed here are first generation, meticulously restored from the "original" camera negative. Now that almost all photography is digital, keeping an archive of original camera negatives is a way to preserve the physical connection to our past which exists in the photographic negative. I love traveling across the United States and this enables me to pursue my passion for creating fine art photography. Visit my web site at www.mkphoto.net
