General Charles de Gaulle of France arrives at Idlewild Airport (JFK) on his visit to New York City, Aug. 27, 1945. He was warmly received by thousands of people of the city and Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. On that day, de Gaulle wished "Long live the United States of America”. This tinted image is from the original 4x5 inch B&W camera negative.
